What is a status upgrade?

A status upgrade is the process of moving to a higher Miles&Smiles membership tier (Classic Plus, Elite, or Elite Plus) by earning the required number of Status Miles within a specific period. When you join the Miles&Smiles program, your membership begins at Classic status. With the Status Miles earned from your flights, you can upgrade your status and enjoy additional benefits such as extra baggage allowance, access to private lounges, and upgrading your Economy class ticket to Business class. What is an upgrade?

An upgrade allows you to move from a lower travel class to a higher one (for example, from Economy Class to Business Class) by using your Miles. Upgrades provide enhanced comfort and services during your flight and are subject to availability and program rules. You can claim your missing Miles from your flights with Turkish Airlines and Star Alliance partners within the last 12 months. When you provide your Miles&Smiles membership number during ticketing or at check-in, your Miles will be automatically credited to your account after the flight.
