Iraqi Post launches the electronic payment card service in cooperation with the International Smart Card Company (Qi).

Baghdad - In a move that enhances its shift towards digitization, the General Postal and Savings Company announced a new agreement with the global smart card company "Qi" to issue and recharge electronic payment cards through its offices spread across Baghdad and other provinces. This new service, which complements the electronic collection project, aims to facilitate procedures for citizens and support digital transformation in Iraq.

According to the directives of the Minister of Communications, Dr. Hayam Al-Yasiri, and the instructions of the General Secretariat of the Council of Ministers, the service will officially begin on May 5, 2024. Individuals and government institutions will be able to issue and recharge their electronic cards by visiting the relevant postal offices.

The first phase of launching the service will include selected postal offices in Baghdad and other provinces, including Al-Intisar, Aden, Dora, Baghdad, Al-Hurriya, and Al-Dhobat postal offices, among others. This service is part of the extensive efforts by the Ministry of Communications to improve and expand electronic postal and financial services in Iraq.
